Florida Chamber Endorses Ron DeSantis as Florida’s Next Governor
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (September 27, 2018)— Today, the Florida Chamber of Commerce announced its endorsement of Ron DeSantis as Florida’s next governor during a press conference held in conjunction with the Florida Chamber Foundation’s Future of Florida Forum.
Florida’s economy is among the envy of the nation. This year alone, Florida surpassed a $1 trillion-dollar economy, maintained an unemployment rate lower than the national average, and welcomed over 16 million visitors. Voters continue to tell us that Florida is moving in the right direction. As the race for governor moves closer, it’s important now more than ever, that we elect a leader who can keep Florida’s forward momentum going.
As a native Floridian, Ron DeSantis understands the concerns of Florida business owners and families and will fight to enact policies that allow more high-wage jobs, improve Florida’s education system and protect Florida’s main attraction: water.
Jeanette Nuñez, Ron DeSantis’ running mate, and Florida’s first Cuban-American woman to be selected as a candidate for Florida Lieutenant Governor, joined this endorsement announcement. During her time in the Florida House of Representatives, Jeanette Nuñez earned a lifetime average grade of 94 percent on the Florida Chamber of Commerce Legislative Report Card. Her efforts to increase access to affordable education made her a Florida Chamber Distinguished Advocate Award recipient in 2013.
