ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT REFORM:

A RESOLUTION OF THE FLORIDA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE IN SUPPORT
OF CONTINUING TO DIVERSIFY FLORIDA’S ECONOMY, TARGETED ECONOMIC
DEVELOPMENT INITIATIVES AND ENTERPRISE FLORIDA, INC.

WHEREAS, In 1989, the Florida Chamber Foundation recommended the creation of an economic development organization in the report, Enterprise Florida: Growing the Future,

WHEREAS, approximately 1,000 new residents move to the State of Florida every day, which shows Florida must continue its job creation efforts,

WHEREAS, the Florida Chamber of Commerce believes the State must continue to fund initiatives that support diversifying the economy and attracting businesses to our state,

WHEREAS, several states and nations are targeting the same high-wage industries Florida is targeting,

WHEREAS, as of December 2017, Florida has created more than 1.4 million private sector jobs since December 2010, thanks in part to the efforts of Enterprise Florida and targeted economic development programs,

WHEREAS, in order to continue to diversify our economy, the Florida Chamber of Commerce will continue to support the efforts of Enterprise Florida, Inc., to attract competitive new projects within and to our state.

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE FLORIDA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE AND THE COUNTERSIGNED ORGANIZATION ENCOURAGE THE FLORIDA LEGISLATURE TO CONTINUE TO DIVERSIFY FLORIDA’S ECONOMY AND SUPPORT AN APPROPRIATE LEVEL OF FUNDING FOR TARGETED ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT INITIATIVES.

 

THIS RESOLUTION SHALL BE EFFECTIVE UPON DIGITAL SUBMISSION TO THE FLORIDA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE.
