Sam Verghese Named CEO and Superintendent of Florida Virtual School

Florida Virtual School (FLVS) has appointed Sam Verghese as its new chief executive officer and superintendent, bringing a strong background in education leadership, technology, and organizational growth to the role.

FLVS is Florida’s only fully virtual public school district and one of the nation’s largest online K-12 providers, serving more than 230,000 students annually with statewide and national reach. Since joining FLVS in 2019, Verghese has helped advance the organization’s growth, strengthen operations, and expand partnerships focused on improving student outcomes.

A former classroom teacher, Verghese has held senior leadership roles in state government and remains actively engaged in workforce and education initiatives. He currently serves as a Florida Chamber of Commerce Board of Trustees member and contributes to conversations shaping Florida’s future workforce and talent pipeline.

Verghese’s leadership and contributions to education innovation have been recognized through honors including the 2025 EdTech Chronicle Best in Education Award and the 2024 Florida Chamber Chair’s Award. In his new role, he will continue leading FLVS and FlexPoint as they expand access to high-quality virtual learning opportunities for students across Florida and beyond.
