Florida Chamber of Commerce Endorses Danny Burgess
In Senate District 20 Race
TALLAHASSEE, FL (July 21, 2020) – The Florida Chamber of Commerce is uniting Florida’s business community for good, and today endorsed Danny Burgess in the Senate District 20 race to replace retiring Senator Tom Lee.
As a proud veteran and former Executive Director of the Florida Department of Veterans Affairs, Danny Burgess has a strong track record of reforming our broken legal system, while also fighting back against job-killing regulations.
“Danny Burgess led the charge for local businesses on fixing Florida’s workers’ compensation problems, earning a Distinguished Advocate recognition for his leadership during his time in the Florida House,” said Mark Wilson, President and CEO, Florida Chamber of Commerce. “I know he will bring this same dedication to driving sound policy for Florida’s job creators during his time in the Senate – the bottom line is all of Florida needs Danny Burgess in the Florida Senate.”
The latest Florida Chamber statewide poll of likely Florida voters shows that 71 percent support COVID-19 liability protections for businesses that are working hard to protect the health and safety of employees and customers, and they believe the Florida Legislature should pass legislation to provide these safe harbors for job creators. Danny Burgess is the only candidate for Senate District 20 who has exhibited the leadership necessary to advance these types of commonsense, pro-business efforts.
“During his time in the House, Danny has been a strong advocate for Florida’s families and businesses,” added Nick Catroppo, Vice President of Political Operations, Florida Chamber of Commerce. “He has a firm commitment to free enterprise principles and we look forward to working with him in the Florida Senate.”
The Florida Chamber is proud to support Danny Burgess, putting its full 100-plus years of combined political experience behind getting him elected.
“I am honored to receive the endorsement of the Florida Chamber of Commerce, a strong voice of Florida’s business community. As our State continues to fight against COVID-19 and rebuild our economy, it will be Florida’s businesses that lead the way to helping restore our state’s economic prosperity. I look forward to working with the Chamber on legislation to help our businesses during these difficult and unprecedented times,” said Danny Burgess.
