Florida Chamber Distinguished Advocate Rep. Wood Answers Tough Insurance Questions

Florida Chamber Series on Free Enterprise:
Representative John Wood (R-Winter Haven)

While Florida is moving in the right direction, Rep. Wood would like to continue strengthening Florida’s insurance market and more importantly, welcoming private capital.

“We certainly continue to welcome private capital coming to Florida,” said Rep. Wood. “The combination of the climate cycle along with low interest rates are certainly a better environment for attracting private capital to Florida. Hopefully we will continue to see this improvement- I’m encouraged.”

On the issue of flood insurance, Rep. Wood knows we are on the right track, but not quite there yet.

“Flood insurance is something that will continue to impact Florida,” shared Rep. Wood said. “So, we are exploring trying to encourage the private market in flood insurance and will continue to work with our federal partners to make sure that flood insurance is affordable for Florida citizens.”
