VISIT FLORIDA Extension Passes Legislature, Heads to Governor DeSantis

Tourism is an essential driver of Florida’s economy and Florida’s business community urges Governor DeSantis to sign this Florida Chamber priority into law

TALLAHASSEE, FL (March 8, 2022) — Moments ago, the Florida Senate passed legislation that extends the Florida Tourism Industry Marketing Corporation, better known as VISIT FLORIDA, through 2028. Now headed to Governor Ron DeSantis for his approval, SB 434 will bring certainty to VISIT FLORIDA, allow them to plan long-term, and recruit and retain top talent.

“Florida’s tourism industry is a key driver of the state’s $1.23 trillion economy, and VISIT FLORIDA is a natural partner as we work to become the 10th largest economy in the world by 2030,” said Florida Chamber of Commerce President & CEO Mark Wilson. “The Florida Chamber and Florida’s business community commends the Florida legislature and bill sponsors Representative Linda Chaney and Senator Ed Hooper for their leadership in supporting marketing our tourism industry and the thousands of local jobs it supports.”

The House and Senate have agreed to fund VISIT FLORIDA at $50 million using non-recurring funds.
