Polk State College Launches AgriPolk to Cultivate Future Agricultural Leaders
Polk State College has launched AgriPolk, a new initiative designed to connect students passionate about agriculture with higher education and workforce training that lead to sustainable, rewarding careers. The program blends a transferable Associate in Arts (AA) degree with hands-on coursework, certifications, and seamless transfer opportunities to four-year universities, including the University of Florida’s Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences (IFAS). AgriPolk targets students interested in fields such as crop and livestock production, soil and plant management, aquaculture, biotechnology, and agricultural business, while integrating social, economic, and environmental perspectives. Housed at the Polk State JD Alexander Center in Lake Wales and supported by the College’s Advanced Technology Center in Bartow, the program provides both academic and technical learning experiences. Responding to the region’s strong agricultural roots and workforce demand—evident in more than 3,000 local students already enrolled in agriscience programs—AgriPolk aims to cultivate the next generation of agricultural innovators prepared to tackle the industry’s modern challenges.
Prospective students are invited to an open house at the JD Alexander Center on October 28 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. to explore AgriPolk and other opportunities available at Polk State.
