The Florida Chamber Foundation’s Future of Work Initiative Hosts Data Hub Roundtable to Strengthen Florida’s Talent Pipeline
The Florida Chamber Foundation will host the Tampa Bay Data Hub Roundtable on Friday, May 1, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Tampa Electric Company (TECO) headquarters. The roundtable will bring together business, education, policy, philanthropic, and community leaders to explore the Florida Talent Center Data Hub, a first-of-its-kind platform designed to give decision-makers actionable insights to strengthen Florida’s talent pipeline. The Data Hub features key education and workforce data spanning early learning, K-12, postsecondary education, and workforce outcomes.
“Florida’s long-term competitiveness depends on the strength of our workforce,” said Mark Wilson, President & CEO of the Florida Chamber of Commerce and Foundation. “Through the Future of Work Initiative, we’re bringing business, education, and community leaders together around data so we can better align what’s being taught with the skills employers need today and in the future.”
The event will feature standalone presentations, a workforce development panel, and interactive roundtable discussions with local leaders spanning early learning, K-12, postsecondary, and workforce, including a focused discussion on the role of math in workforce readiness.
“Strong talent pipelines are built at the local level,” said Alina Shaffer, vice president of human resources for Tampa Electric and advisory board member for the Florida Chamber Foundation’s Future of Work Florida Initiative. “Access to clear, reliable data helps communities better understand their workforce needs and take action to connect people to meaningful career opportunities.”
“Good data leads to better decisions,” said Corrie Melton, Vice President of Talent Development for the Future of Work at the Florida Chamber Foundation. “The Florida Talent Center gives regions a clearer picture of where they are and where they need to go, helping leaders strengthen education and workforce pathways that support Floridians at every stage.”
