New Florida Chamber Statewide Poll Shows Governor Ron DeSantis With Strong Job Approval Ratings

Governor DeSantis up double digits on potential 2022 opponents

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (May 11, 2021) – The latest Florida Chamber statewide poll shows likely Florida voters overwhelmingly support Governor Ron DeSantis with a strong job approval rating of 55%. Governor DeSantis receives 88% support from Republicans and 57% from NPA’s, a 20-point lead among NPA’s.

Governor Ron DeSantis also receives high marks across the board with 70 percent of Florida voters supporting his handling of the COVID-19 vaccine.

“As I’ve said for over a year, under the leadership of Governor DeSantis, Florida continues moving in the right direction and serving as the national model for COVID-19 recovery while other states chose fear over facts,” said Florida Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Mark Wilson. “Governor DeSantis’ strong approval ratings show Florida’s voters and Florida’s business community are united around his leadership in protecting Floridians and Florida’s economy.”

The Florida Chamber poll also found that Governor DeSantis is in a strong position heading towards re-election. He holds a double-digit lead over any potential Democrat challenger that has been prominently mentioned for 2022.

Governor DeSantis enjoys a 10 percent lead over former Governor Charlie Crist, benefiting from 87 percent support from Republicans and 50 percent support from NPA’s. Moreover, DeSantis leads Crist among NPA’s by 17 points.

Governor DeSantis enjoys a 12 percent lead over Commissioner of Agriculture Nikki Fried, benefiting from 89 percent support from Republicans and 48 percent support from NPA’s. DeSantis leads Fried among NPA’s by 16 percent.

Governor DeSantis enjoys a 15 percent lead over Congresswoman Val Demings, benefiting from 92 percent support from Republicans and 49 percent support from NPA’s. DeSantis leads Demings among NPA’s by 20 points.

ABOUT THIS POLL:  The Florida Chamber of Commerce political poll was conducted on April 30 – May 8, 2021 by Cherry Communications during live telephone interviews of likely voters, and has a margin of error of +/- 4 percent. The sample size included 242 Democrats, 244 Republicans and 116 Others for a total of 602 respondents statewide.
