Florida Chamber Past Chair and Board Member Fred Leonhardt Passes Away

Over the weekend, the Florida Chamber of Commerce and all of Florida lost a great friend – longtime lawyer and civic leader Fred Leonhardt of the GrayRobinson firm. GrayRobinson founder Charles Gray and I spoke Saturday morning, and upon learning this news, I expressed our sincerest condolences on behalf of the Florida Chamber.

Fred was the consummate civic leader – always positive, always pro-business, and he could always find common ground when others saw broken bridges.

As many of you know, Fred served as Chair of the Florida Chamber in 2003-2004, Co-Chaired the Florida Chamber’s Past Chairs Council from 2010-2015, and served as a member of the Board of Directors since 2001. He also received the Florida Chamber’s Business Advocacy Award in 2009.

Fred joined GrayRobinson in 1992, and served on dozens of nonprofit boards, in gubernatorial appointments, leading economic development initiatives and he actively participated in the Florida Chamber’s Political Institute – serving as Chair of the political group from 2006-2007. Fred also served as a member of the Enterprise Florida, Inc. Board of Directors where he was one of the longest serving board members in the history of the program.

As details of plans to celebrate Fred’s life are finalized, we will share that information with you. Until then, please lift Fred’s family and colleagues at GrayRobinson up in your prayers.
