FL 2030 Benchmarks

The Florida Chamber Foundation Board of Trustees Uniting on the Road to 2030 – March 2023

By: Susan Towler, Florida Chamber Foundation Board of Trustees Chair; Executive Director/CSR, Florida Blue Foundation

The Florida Chamber Foundation team continues to build momentum behind the Florida 2030 Blueprint’s mission and its 39 goals. I’m proud to share with you the following recent highlights of our Foundation team uniting Florida’s leaders on the path to making Florida a top 10 global economy by 2030.

This month, Florida Chamber Foundation President Mark Wilson provided an overview of the Florida 2030 Blueprint’s mission to secure Florida’s future to Leadership Tampa Bay. Mark also had the opportunity to provide an economic update highlighting Florida’s growth, outlook, and challenges on the road to 2030 and beyond with Waste Management Florida and the Greater Hernando Chamber of Commerce. Lastly, he presented to the HR Florida State Council on what local businesses are telling us are the most important issues impacting Florida, and the advocacy efforts of the Florida Chamber to propel our Florida 2030 Blueprint goals.

Our Chamber Foundation Research team was also busy this month advancing our 2030 mission. Director of Research Dave Sobush, CEcD, had the opportunity to discuss redefining work and workforce needs with the Tampa Bay Chamber of Commerce, Pinellas County Chamber of Commerce, and as a panelist at HR Tampa’s monthly meeting. Additionally, both Dave and Research Economist Sheridan Meek provided economic updates, and education on our research tools and Blueprint mission to various 2030 stakeholders, including the Boca Chamber of Commerce, City of St. Petersburg, Destin Chamber of Commerce, Tallahassee Refugee Task Force, and more. I am also excited to announce that they are officially on the road conducting our Florida Workforce Needs Study 2.0 Regional Employer Focus Groups to inform the Chamber Foundation’s next phase of workforce research. The first stops in March included Pensacola and Jacksonville.

The conversation on securing Florida’s talent pipeline will be brought to the big stage at our annual Florida Learners to Earners Workforce Solution Summit on June 27 in Tampa. I invite you to register yourself and your team HERE>, if you haven’t already done so. Please also be sure to register for our Board of Trustees Meeting HERE> which will be held in conjunction with the Summit on June 26.

I would like to wrap up this update by giving a warm welcome to the following Trustees who have recently joined our Board:

    1. Brandon Harvath, Christian Care Ministries (New Representative)
    2. Adrienne Johnston, CareerSource Florida (New Representative)

On behalf of the entire Board, we look forward to engaging with you on the solutions to grow and propel our great state!

Stay tuned for more updates next month on the momentum-building efforts of the Chamber Foundation team to secure Florida’s future.

Until next time,
Susan
