Statement from Mark Wilson, President & CEO of the Florida Chamber of Commerce and Foundation – Florida’s 3rd-Grade Reading Scores Up Two Percentage Points, Now at 57%

“We are encouraged by the increase in Florida’s 3rd grade reading scores, reflecting the hard work of educators, the business community, and students alike. While we celebrate the positive momentum seen in 50 of our 67 school districts, we turn our attention to the nearly 95,000 Florida students who are not yet reading at grade level. I would like to congratulate Franklin County for being the biggest percentage mover, going from 40% to 60% on their 3rd grade reading outcomes.

Our Florida Business Alliance for Early Learning Project will soon release a report analyzing the new data and sharing how educators and the business community can further align to bring all of our 3rd graders up to speed.”
