Standing Tall: Athena the Giraffe Calf Joins the Tower!

Athena, a giraffe calf born at Busch Gardens Tampa Bay, is making her public debut! Born to proud parents Angel and Titan in mid-June, the youngster now stands 7-feet-tall and weighs 156-pounds. After spending two months behind-the-scenes, bonding with her mother, Athena is now officially a member of the tower, which is commonly referred to as a ‘herd.’ Athena’s birth is a conservation success story, as Busch Gardens is a participating member of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums’ reticulated giraffe Species Survival Plan (SSP).
