JEA Hosted Senior Resource Event Offering Free Vaccines and Energy Bill Assistance

JEA supported the health and financial well-being of older adults through a senior-focused community event held on January 13, offering free vaccinations and access to utility assistance resources.

In partnership with the Duval County Health Department, the event provided free flu and shingles vaccines, addressing preventative healthcare needs and seasonal health concerns for seniors. Attendees were also able to connect directly with JEA Customer Care representatives to learn about programs designed to help reduce energy costs and manage utility bills.

The event brought together several local community organizations, including City of Jacksonville Community Outreach, Catholic Charities, Jewish Family & Community Services, and United Way’s 211 program. These partners offered guidance on financial assistance, social services, and other resources available to seniors facing economic challenges.

Over the past year, participating organizations had distributed nearly $94,000 in assistance to more than 160 seniors, highlighting the impact of collaborative, community-based support efforts. United Way representatives assisted attendees with eligibility screenings that could qualify them for utility bill assistance and additional aid.

By combining healthcare services with financial and energy-related support, the event reflected JEA’s ongoing commitment to serving the senior community through accessible, practical resources.
