Florida Poly Tops Southern Rankings for Fifth Consecutive Year
Florida Polytechnic University has maintained its standing as the leading public college in the South, according to the 2026 U.S. News & World Report Best Colleges list. This marks the fifth straight year the university has earned the distinction, cementing its place as a rising force in higher education just 12 years after opening its doors.
Advancing Excellence and Value
In addition to its top placement, the university ranked third among public institutions in the South for best value—recognition that highlights both the quality of its academic programs and its affordability for students. These achievements underscore Florida Poly’s growing reputation as a destination for STEM-focused education.
Engineering Programs on the National Stage
Florida Poly’s engineering curriculum continues to earn national attention, placing among the top 30 public undergraduate engineering programs in the country that do not grant doctoral degrees. The recognition, based on a survey of nearly 150 institutions, underscores the strength of the university’s specialized offerings.
“This recognition reflects the commitment of our faculty and staff to provide students with an unmatched educational experience,” said University President Dr. Devin Stephenson. “We remain focused on producing graduates who are ready to meet the demands of rapidly evolving industries.”
Expanding Opportunities for Students
The university welcomed its largest incoming class this fall, pushing enrollment to nearly 2,000 students. Later this year, Florida Poly will open the Gary C. Wendt Engineering Building, a 40,000-square-foot facility that will significantly expand lab space and hands-on learning opportunities for students.
“The momentum we’re seeing speaks to the success of our innovative curriculum and student-centered approach,” said Dr. Brad Thiessen, provost and vice president of academic affairs.
Shaping the Future of STEM in Florida
As the state’s only university exclusively dedicated to science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, Florida Poly is positioned to drive innovation and economic growth. With continued national recognition and new investments in facilities and programs, the university is poised to play an even greater role in advancing STEM education across the region.
