Florida Blue Foundation Awards $3 Million to Boost Food Security and Fight Chronic Illness
Florida Blue Foundation has awarded $3 million in grants to eight nonprofit organizations across Florida to improve food security and combat chronic health conditions, particularly in underserved and rural communities. The initiative focuses on addressing social determinants of health by improving access to nutritious food, which plays a key role in preventing illnesses such as obesity, heart disease, and diabetes. The funded programs include a range of efforts, from mobile grocery stores to nutrition education and health screenings, aiming to make healthy food more accessible to vulnerable populations. Building on over $19 million in previous investments since 2020—including support for campus food pantries and the delivery of 200 million meals statewide—the foundation continues its mission to strengthen local communities, advance health equity, and improve long-term health outcomes across Florida.
