Celebrate in Tallahassee with the Florida Gators

This Valentine’s Day, expect to see orange and blue complementing the roses in the halls of the Florida Capitol. The University of Florida’s annual Gator Day, set for Feb. 14, will highlight UF’s academic excellence, research advancements, and national impact for the Florida Legislature, other statewide audiences, and the general public.

From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the Florida Capitol’s first three floors will feature displays and information tables from various academic units, research centers and institutes, and student-focused programs. There will also be a farmers-market-type experience on the plaza level, provided by UF’s Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences.

An outdoor celebration in the plaza, located between the historic and new Capitol buildings, will follow from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Special guests will include UF President Ben Sasse, UF Board of Trustees members, UF Alumni Association President Barbie Tilman, Head Football Coach Billy Napier, Quarterback Graham Mertz, and Linebacker Shemar James. Gator mascots Albert and Alberta will make appearances, and Napier, Mertz, and James will be signing personalized autographs. Posters will be available, and guests are encouraged to bring an item to sign (one per person).

The celebration will conclude with a sponsored luncheon, provided by the UF Alumni Association. The UF Bookstore will be offering an assortment of Gator Gear for sale. Additionally, the UF Clinical and Translational Science Institute’s mobile health unit will be onsite to provide free health checks.

Wear your best orange and blue, join the festivities, and help the Gator Nation celebrate UF’s ongoing impact on the state and nation. All events are free and open to the public.
