Florida needs a well-rounded and competitive workforce to produce the goods and services that will ensure a robust economic future for the state. For any immigration reform to succeed, it must accommodate the needs of Florida employers seeking to hire the workers required to meet the demands of their customers while respecting the rule of law.
The Florida Chamber supports a consistent federal policy of immigration enforcement that avoids undue burdens on employers and will oppose any state proposals that undermine the federal government’s duty to enforce immigration laws, or harm either Florida’s economy or reputation in the international community. Our state is uniquely dependent upon foreign tourists, investors, and trade, and we cannot jeopardize our relationships with Latin America with harsh, anti-immigrant legislation.

TALLAHASSEE — Immigration was one of the hot-button issues of the Florida campaign trail last year, contributing in large part to former Attorney General Bill McCollum’s loss to Rick Scott in the GOP primary for governor.
In a last-minute effort to flex their political muscle and sway public policy, this morning the Florida Chamber of Commerce sent an e-mail blast to its members telling them to contact their Senators regarding the Senate’s immigration reform bill.
