The ILA Local 1408 Scholarship Fund commemorated its 30th anniversary by awarding a record $80,000 in scholarships to 34 local high school seniors and college students during a ceremony at Edward Waters University. Founded in 1995 by Jacksonville native Charles Spencer, the Fund has awarded over 1,000 scholarships totaling more than $1 million, many to first-generation college students.

This year marks the largest single-year award in the Fund’s history, with $80,000 distributed among 34 recipients. The top award of $10,000 was presented to Jamaree Jenkins, an Andrew Jackson High School graduate who plans to attend Florida State University to pursue a degree in Information Technology.

The ILA Local 1408 Scholarship Fund’s 30-year milestone highlights its enduring commitment to supporting education in the Jacksonville community. Through generous contributions and a focus on student success, the Fund continues to empower the next generation of leaders.
