The Florida Chamber Foundation Team is on the Road Uniting the Business Community Around Destination 2030 – January 2023

By: Susan Towler, Florida Chamber Foundation Board of Trustees Chair; Executive Director/CSR, Florida Blue Foundation

The Florida Chamber Foundation team continues to build momentum behind the Florida 2030 Blueprint’s mission and its 39 goals. I’m proud to share with you the following recent highlights, since December, of our Foundation team uniting Florida’s leaders on the path to making Florida a top 10 global economy by 2030.

This month, Florida Chamber Foundation President Mark Wilson shared an economic state-of-the-state update with the Florida Association of Chamber Professionals and also provided an overview of the Florida 2030 Blueprint’s mission to secure Florida’s future with Metropolitan Ministries, and the National Association of State Chambers at their winter conference.

Members from our economic expert team also hit the road in December and January to unite leaders on the 2030 mission. Chamber Foundation Director of Research Dave Sobush, CEcD, presented on the Florida 2030 Blueprint’s goals related to rural economic development as well as Florida Trade & Logistics 2030 (TL2030) at the Florida Rural Economic Development Summit hosted by the Florida Rural Economic Development Association. Dave also had the opportunity to provide an economic outlook and overview of the Florida 2030 Blueprint at the Kimley-Horn Florida Kickoff 2023, Greater Winter Haven Chamber of Commerce’s 2023 Economic Summit, and to a group of previous winners/finalists for GrowFL Institute’s ‘Companies to Watch’ award.

Lastly, and in other TL2030 news, Board Trustee company Bank of America’s David Berry, Senior Relationship Manager, presented to the Jacksonville Chamber’s Trade & Logistics Council’s monthly meeting on the key strategies and recommendations outlined in TL2030 to secure the future of trade, logistics, and export manufacturing in Florida.

I would like to wrap up this update by giving a warm welcome to the Board Trustees that have recently joined our Board:

  1. Dr. Michael Erhard, Nemours (UPDATE)
  2. Bryce Mendenhall, Sunshine Water Services (NEW)
  3. Dr. Aysegul Timur, Florida Gulf Coast University (UPDATE)

On behalf of the entire Board, we look forward to engaging with you on the solutions to grow and propel our great state!

Stay tuned for more updates next month on the momentum-building efforts of the Chamber Foundation team to secure Florida’s future.
