A Guide to Waste Management

Learn More About Waste Management   Join a Caucus

Florida’s population is growing and as as a result, we are consuming and discarding more materials — including garbage.  In 2016, more than 10 pounds of solid waste per Floridian was collected.

Florida must prepare today for the more than five million new residents that are anticipated by 2030. In 2010 the Florida Legislature set a recycling goal of 75 percent by 2020 for Florida counties.

In order to support these growing communities, we must continue to ensure future growth occurs in a way that includes sustainable waste management plans, builds on our quality of life and strengthens our infrastructure to ensure all Floridians have reliable energy, water, and waste management resources to meet future demand.
