What does your business do?
FAAST gives people who have disabilities and employers options to try out and be trained on assistive technology at no cost before they purchase a device to be used in the workplace. FAAST can assist with providing a no-cost, short-term assistive technology accommodation to assist during the interview process, as well as help with troubleshooting what kind of assistive technology would be best for an employee to complete the essential functions of their role.
What’s your biggest concern as a small business owner/operator?
My biggest concern is that there are people in Florida’s workforce that aren’t aware of the benefits of assistive technology. Assistive technology is any device, equipment, software, hardware, tool, or gadget that can help a person who has a disability do a task. Many times, as we age or become disabled, it can be a challenge to stay engaged in our work. Assistive technology may be an option to continue our success in the workforce.
Tell us why you joined the Small Business Council and what you would say to other business leaders about the benefit and value of this council.
I joined the Small Business Council because I lead a small nonprofit that serves the entire state of Florida and I wanted to stay aware of issues that small businesses are facing. The Small Business Council is a great way to stay up to date on issues impacting small businesses and share resource information.
