Duke Energy is investing in Florida’s future workforce through a new partnership with several state colleges focused on training the next generation of electrical lineworkers. With support from the Duke Energy Foundation, the initiative funds new equipment, curriculum improvements, and hands-on learning opportunities that help students develop practical, job-ready skills.
Participating institutions include Lake-Sumter State College, Seminole State College of Florida, Valencia College, St. Petersburg College, and South Florida State College. These colleges offer specialized programs that combine classroom instruction with real-world training. Program lengths range from short-term certifications to more advanced coursework that prepares graduates for immediate entry into the energy workforce.
This collaboration strengthens Florida’s skilled labor pipeline while creating pathways to stable, high-demand careers. It also helps ensure communities across the state have the trained professionals needed to support and maintain critical electric infrastructure.
