Jim serves as the Executive Vice President, Corporate Relations and is responsible for marketing and revenue associated with the Florida Chamber’s 2025 strategic plan. Jim has an extensive background in association leadership and has served as the Chief Operating Officer of two prominent statewide business associations, President and Executive Director of two different foundations, and President of a for-profit subsidiary associated with generating significant revenue to the association, while saving participants millions of dollars.
Jim’s non-profit background, combined
with his experience as a small-business owner, has given him a unique
perspective on all aspects of business acumen including raising capital,
measuring customer/stakeholder outcomes, information technology, finance,
purchasing, human resources, and sales and marketing.
Jim’s background includes participating in efforts to elect business-minded legislators and grow the business caucus. He also served a key role in a campaign to reform the workers’ compensation system in Kentucky which eliminated much of the fraud and waste and drastically reduced premiums for employers.
In between state chamber careers, Jim revived an educational organizational serving 16 of the top 100 poorest counties in the nation. He also teamed up with two-time NCAA Final Four Coach Lee Rose on the Middle School Project targeting students who may be vulnerable to losing interest or dropping out of school. For a brief period, Jim was part owner in a manufacturing company which made wood products such as grandmother clocks, mitten chests and cigar humidors which were sold through such mediums as the Home Shopping Network and QVC.
Jim is a Certified Association Executive (CAE), MBTI certified and a graduate of the University of Kentucky.
