Donna Wright

Chief Operations Officer, Florida Chamber Foundation

Donna Wright joined the Florida Chamber of Commerce Foundation in May of 2018 as Chief Operations Officer. The Florida Chamber Foundation is the research and solutions development arm of the Florida Chamber of Commerce. Working to unite Florida’s business community for good by working in partnership with state business leaders, the Foundation advances the initiatives that envision a global competitiveness, prosperity and high paying jobs, and vibrant and resilient communities for Florida. Donna is responsible for leading the Foundation’s operational needs, including a primary focus on operationalizing the Florida 2030 Blueprint and the key goals and targets to secure Florida’s future. Donna works closely with the Florida Chamber Foundation’s Board of Trustees, and oversees Foundation initiatives including the Foundation’s Business Alliance for Early Learning and the Florida Prosperity Initiative.  

Donna was born and raised in Roxboro, North Carolina. She received her B.A. in Psychology at Meredith College in Raleigh, N.C. where she also studied Dance and Elementary Education. She moved to Tallahassee shortly after where she received her M.S. in Special Education from Florida State University in 2002. 

She was a Special Education teacher for Leon County Schools for seven years prior to her full-time job as a mother, wife, and community servant. Prior to her role at the Florida Chamber Foundation, she served for two years as the External Affairs Manager for the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity, traveling the state and working closely with former Executive Director Cissy Proctor and the Executive Office of the Governor under former Governor Rick Scott. Prior to her role at DEO, she served for three years as the Public Relations Director for Goodwill Industries, Big Bend Inc.  

Donna has spent many years serving both the state and local community working as a volunteer with Heart Gallery of the Big Bend, American Lung Association, Children’s Home Society, the Tallahassee Ballet and the American Red Cross. Aside from her work at the Florida Chamber Foundation, she serves on the Advisory Counsel for the University of Florida Lastinger Center, Florida Council of Economic Education Board, and is a sustaining member of the Junior League of Tallahassee. Donna and her husband Baker have two children, Owen and Liza Baker.
