Allen McGlynn is Counsel III within the Corporate Law Department of State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance Company. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, in 1988, majoring in Speech Communications. He received his Juris Doctor degree in 1993 from the Southern Illinois University at Carbondale School of Law. While in law school, Allen served on the Editorial Board of the Southern Illinois University Law Journal and the National Moot Court Team, and worked as a research assistant within the law school. After joining State Farm’s Corporate Law Department in 1993, he relocated from the company’s headquarters in Bloomington, Illinois, to Atlanta, Georgia, in 1995. The Atlanta CLD satellite office services 9 southeastern states. He was promoted to Assistant Counsel in 1996, Counsel I in 1999, Counsel II in 2002, and assumed his present position in 2007.

Allen works in the Legislative/Regulatory Division of the Corporate Law Department, overseeing State Farm’s legislative and regulatory activities within Florida. He previously handled public policy responsibilities for Alabama, Mississippi, Georgia, and South Carolina. Allen also serves as a liaison to the Civil Justice Reform Group, an organization of various businesses dedicated to enacting meaningful reform of state and federal civil justice systems.

Allen serves as State Farm’s primary liaison to the Counsel of State Governments, the nation’s premier information resource and institutional voice for the state government community. Allen has also served as State Farm’s primary liaison to the Auto Accident Compensation Project (AACP), developed in 1992 by the Association of Americans for Civil Justice. The AACP served as an information clearinghouse on automobile insurance reform, as well as related civil justice reform, throughout the country. Mr. McGlynn is a member of the Illinois Bar, and the Illinois Bar Association.

As Counsel for State Farm, Allen has practice is predominately in the field of insurance. His practice responsibilities include a wide-range of insurance-related matters. The range of issues Allen handles includes, but is not limited to: Antitrust matters; Civil Justice Reform issues; Compliance Program Development and Exceptions; Consumer Complaint Resolution; Coverage Questions/Disputes; Legislative drafting, interpretation, and implementation; Misappropriation of confidential information or trade secrets; and Preventative legal measures.
