Andrew Gillum (D) and Ron DeSantis (R) won their respective party nominations, and will face off in November’s general election to become Florida’s next Governor.

“As Florida’s non-partisan pro-business advocate, the Florida Chamber congratulates primary election winners, and we’re already looking toward November’s general election,” said Mark Wilson, President and CEO, Florida Chamber of Commerce. “We look forward to working with primary election winners to grow Florida’s private sector, diversify our economy and create economic opportunity for everyone.”

In other Florida Cabinet races, Sean Shaw (D) and Ashley Moody (R) secured their respective party nominations to face off during the November general election. Florida’s next Commissioner of Agriculture will be a new face to the Cabinet post. Nikki Fried (D) and Matt Caldwell (R) won their races and will face off in November.

“The Florida Chamber’s Political Operations interviewed over 125 candidates for statewide races, and we endorsed 83 pro-jobs candidates that will help secure Florida’s future. While we always anticipate that we’ll win some races, and lose in some races, we will continue our fight to make Florida more competitive,” said Will Weatherford, Florida Chamber Political Council Chair and former Speaker of the Florida House of Representatives. “On behalf of the Florida Chamber’s Political Operations, I extend my heartfelt thank you to those who supported candidates that believe in and fight for free enterprise.”
