No Treats Here: Only Monster Bills

An Orlando Action 9 investigation exposes how a small water leak can trigger a monster repair bill for a Central Florida homeowner because of Assignment of Benefits (AOB).

“They’re billing insurance companies for outrageous claims, many of which haven’t been performed. I think a day of reckoning is coming,” said Mark Wilson, President and CEO of the Florida Chamber of Commerce.

What’s it been like for the homeowner? “Pure hell…It’s killing me,” said homeowner Darlene Masturzo.

Earlier this week, the Wall Street Journal, in an article, said that AOB contracts are upending the insurance market in Florida and are responsible for driving up insurance rates for some Florida homeowners.
