Nic Carter Joins Florida Chamber of Commerce to Head Up Insurance Services Division for Chamber Members

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (June 23, 2021)— In keeping with its board driven, six-year strategic plan, the Florida Chamber of Commerce today announced the launch of a new Insurance Division that will be offering a suite of insurance options for its members under the group benefits and property & casualty umbrellas. The Chamber’s new division will be providing solutions for Chamber members in areas from life and health to workers compensation insurance and other areas of insurance in which Florida businesses face challenges. The Florida Chamber will be working with participating local chambers, trade associations, brokers and agents to provide competitive insurance solutions to help keep Florida moving in the right direction. As the division grows, Chamber members will have access to diverse insurance offerings at competitive rates coupled with other member-only features and benefits.

“For years the Florida Chamber Small Business Council has worked on driving solutions to help Florida’s small to mid-size businesses find insurance options that are competitive including hosting the annual Insurance Solution Summit for more than a decade,” said Mark Wilson, President and CEO of the Florida Chamber of Commerce. “Sixty percent of Florida’s net new job creation comes from businesses with less than 100 employees and our insurance and benefits strategy is aimed at helping them grow and compete.”

Florida Chamber Safety Council President, Katie Yeutter – a veteran in developing and implementing successful insurance programs as well as making companies safer and more competitive will be overseeing the new Insurance Division.

“As the Florida Chapter of the National Safety Council, the strategy was to launch the Florida Chamber Safety Council first to provide safety training and services to reduce injuries, claims and cost,” said Katie Yeutter, President of the Florida Chamber Safety Council. “Combining the Safety Council’s services with our new insurance solutions will help advantage Florida job creators – a combination that will help make a difference in Florida and help businesses compete in the marketplace.”

Joining the team to help lead this effort, the Florida Chamber has hired former Milwaukee Brewers professional baseball player Nic Carter who most recently served as Director of Risk Management with Associates Insurance. In his role,  he created an entire loss control department for a $70 million annual premium agency, developed a risk management platform for over 1,000 widely diverse commercial insurance clients, reduced OSHA citations for multiple insured parties by assisting with the inspection and post-accident processes, created policies for insured subcontractor agreements and safety manuals, greatly reduced the overall agency loss ratio, assisted agency brokers in soliciting new business for yearly record growth of 15% on existing book of business, and more.

“As a former professional baseball player, Nic brings the tenacity and experience learned in the field to the insurance industry, providing a unique perspective on understanding the risk and reward associated with every decision,” added Wilson.

The Florida Chamber’s Insurance Division expects to make more announcements surrounding the different product and service offerings of which Chamber members throughout Florida will be able to take advantage.
