Did you know, experiencing a total solar eclipse where you live happens on average about once in 375 years? The data gathered from today’s eclipse will help us better understand the earth and space, but it could not happen without the businesses and organizations creating jobs in these industries.

Data from Enterprise Florida shows us Florida alone has more than 500 aerospace and 1,677 aviation establishments, and our state’s aerospace industry employs more than 85,000 Floridians. Many of these employees are one of the more than 1.5 million veterans residing in Florida or are part of Florida’s military and defense industries, which contribute nearly $80 billion to Florida’s economy.

At the Florida Chamber Foundation’s recent Military, Defense and Veterans Opportunities Summit, we heard from leading Florida companies, including Lockheed Martin, Boeing, Harris Corp. and Northrop Grumman about how we can continue to create innovations, high-wage jobs and secure the future of these industries.

Watch videos of speakers, sponsors, elected officials and business leaders discuss why these conversations matter.
