FL2030 Trailblazer Spotlight – Cary Putrino, Fifth Third Bank

Tell us a little bit about Fifth Third Bank.

Fifth Third is a bank that’s as long on innovation as it is on history. Since 1858, we’ve been helping individuals, families, businesses and communities grow through smart financial services that improve lives. Our list of firsts is extensive, and it’s one that continues to expand as we explore the intersection of tech-driven innovation, dedicated people and focused community impact. Fifth Third is one of the few U.S.-based banks to have been named among Ethisphere’s World’s Most Ethical Companies® for several years. With a commitment to taking care of our customers, employees, communities and shareholders, our goal is not only to be the nation’s highest performing regional bank, but to be the bank people most value and trust.

What made you join the Florida Chamber Foundation’s Board of Trustees, and what would you say to other Florida leaders about the benefit of this partnership?

I wanted to join the Florida Chamber Foundation’s Board of Trustees to work side by side with other business and community leaders to help showcase just how special the state of Florida is and to accelerate its economic growth and vitality. As a longtime Florida resident, I am personally invested to create a sustainable economy and a vibrant place to live for generations to come. The Florida Chamber Foundation Board has been a great way to meet other leaders who are as equally passionate about the state and its success as I am. I’ve made strong connections and relationships in various markets throughout the state which has benefited me both personally and professionally.

What are Fifth Third Bank’s particular areas of interest as they apply to reaching the Florida 2030 Blueprint goals aimed at making Florida a top 10 global economy by 2030?

Fifth Third has a shared deep commitment to building stronger and sustainable communities by lifting up small businesses, addressing the housing crisis, creating inclusion in the traditional financial system and in the workforce, and filling the gaps in and evolving education. Our focus is ultimately on creating economic mobility for all. Fifth Third is particularly interested in The Florida 2030 Blueprint’s areas of workforce development, building a favorable business climate and Florida’s quality of life.
