Carolyn Bermudez was named vice president of operations and general manager of Florida City Gas in February 2014. In this newly created role, she has responsibility for day-to-day operations, which include safety, compliance, operations excellence and financial performance. A subsidiary of AGL Resources (NYSE:GAS), Florida City Gas meets the energy needs of more than 105,000 residential, commercial and industrial customers. AGL Resources serves 4.5 million utility customers and is the largest natural gas-only distribution company based on customer count in the United States.
Bermudez brings extensive experience to this leadership role, having started her career at Florida City Gas in 1986. She has grown with the company through progressively challenging positions. Most recently, she served as regional director since 2010. Prior to that, she was director of strategic business and financial planning. She previously served five years as manager of business operations, and 18 years in increasing roles in accounting.
She earned her B.A. in Business from South Carolina State University and is a board member of the Florida Natural Gas Association and Associated Gas Distributors of Florida.
A South Carolina native, Bermudez and her husband, Pablo, and three children reside in Miami Shores.
