The Florida Chamber hosted its 5th Annual Insurance Summit in Orlando where Personal Injury Protection (PIP) was a highly-anticipated topic. Florida Chief Financial Officer Jeff Atwater was a featured speaker attending the summit.
The Florida Chamber urged policymakers to reform Florida’s no-fault auto insurance system and tackle the troubling litigation costs associated with the program.
“Attorney’s fees are a key cost driver in Florida’s fraud-riddled no-fault auto insurance system,” said David Hart, Executive Vice President of the Florida Chamber of Commerce. Hart, who is participating in the Florida Chamber’s 5th Annual Insurance Summit, added, “While trial lawyers yield windfalls from intentional lawsuits, Florida families are being forced to pay for unfair and unnecessary increases to their auto insurance rates. In some cases, it can be over several hundred dollars a year.”
Florida’s billion dollar PIP problem is a highly-anticipated topic of discussion on the Florida Chamber Insurance Summit agenda.
