Mike O’Malley
As Vice President for State Government and Community Affairs, Mike oversees CSX Transportation’s relationships with state and local officials across the company’s 23-state network. This involves working with governors, mayors and state legislators to advance initiatives of interest to the railroad industry while underscoring the public benefits of a strong freight rail system. He also oversees the company’s community affairs work, including the promotion of public safety awareness with regard to CSX’s rail operations, especially at highway grade crossings. Finally, he serves as a member of CSX’s Strategy Development Team, helping to develop and drive key strategic initiatives that build shareholder value and enhance the company’s ability to serve its customers while reinvesting in its network.
Prior to joining CSX, Mike served in several positions at the U.S. Department of Transportation, including chief of staff at the Federal Aviation Administration, the agency responsible for managing and providing safety oversight for the nation’s air traffic control system. He also served as a transportation and economic development advisor to Illinois Governor Jim Edgar in both Springfield and Washington, DC.
Mike lives in Jacksonville with his wife and three young children.
