Lars Houmann is the President and Chief Executive Officer of Florida Hospital, and the Florida Division of Adventist Health System which includes 17 hospitals in Florida.  Since 2001, Mr. Houmann served as the Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer for Florida Hospital.  With more than 1,800 beds, the seven-hospital system serves the Orlando metropolitan area.  Florida Hospital admits more patients annually than any other hospital in the U.S. and is the largest provider of Medicare services. Houmann has been with Florida Hospital since 1993 and has served in various executive capacities during that time.  He has been responsible for several major hospital expansion projects, and was instrumental in the development and successful launch of Florida Hospital Celebration Health, a state-of-the-future healthcare facility that opened in 1998 in the Walt Disney Company’s community of Celebration.

Mr. Houmann graduated from Columbia Union College in 1979 with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration.  He received his Master of Healthcare Administration degree from Loma Linda University in 1981.  Houmann is board certified in healthcare administration as a fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives.  He has spent his entire career in hospital administration, serving at hospitals in Massachusetts, California, Arizona, and Florida.  He has experience with small community hospitals, multi-hospital systems, and large tertiary teaching hospitals in both the for-profit and not-for-profit sectors.

Mr. Houmann is actively involved in healthcare and economic development.  He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Florida Hospital Association and is currently leading a work group to develop solutions to the problem of the uninsured in Florida.
