TALLAHASSEE (February 16, 2012) - Reducing skyrocketing workers’ compensation rates that could save Florida businesses millions is a priority for the Florida Chamber of Commerce. A Florida Chamber-backed workers’ reform bill that will reduce rates by 2.5% and bring forth a $62 million savings will be heard today by the Senate Health Regulation Committee.
In the latest edition of The Florida Chamber’s Bottom Line, workers’ comp reform bill sponsor Senator Alan Hays (R-Umatilla) explains how a repackaged drug loophole is forcing rates to skyrocket. Senator Hays and Florida Chamber Executive Vice President David Hart discuss how SB 668 will:
- Establish fairness with workers’ comp prescription drug reimbursement rates,
- Reduce the rising workers’ comp rates that Florida businesses are being forced to pay, and
- Ensure workers’ comp patients receive premium medical treatment
