Florida Chamber of Commerce Honors Senator Bogdanoff as Most Pro-Business Legislator of 2011
(Tallahassee, FL – June 14, 2011) – Senator Ellyn Bogdanoff has been named the 2011 Most Valuable Legislator by the Florida Chamber of Commerce for her leadership on pro-business issues during this year’s Legislative Session.
Senator Bogdanoff led the charge in the Senate on numerous pieces of Florida Chamber-backed priorities, including property insurance, legal reform, research and development incentives and corporate income tax relief.
“I am honored to be recognized by the Florida Chamber for my efforts this session,” said Senator Bogdanoff. “As a small business owner and chair of the Finance & Tax Committee of the Florida Senate, I believe it is critical that we continue to do what we can statutorily to foster a business climate that will have a positive impact on our economy and private sector job growth.”
In addition to derailing numerous proposed amendments that would have hurt the business community and the state’s economy, Senator Bogdanoff fought tirelessly for Florida Chamber- backed pro-jobs legislation in the Senate and encouraged fellow lawmakers to support property insurance reforms and much-needed legal reforms, even when some of these measures stalled and eventually died in committees.
“Senator Bogdanoff has been a champion for pro-business legislation since she was elected to the House of Representatives in 2004,” said Jon Ferrando, Florida Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors member, and Executive Vice President, General Counsel & Secretary, AutoNation, Inc. “She helped pass much of the Florida Chamber’s agenda for jobs during her first year in the Senate.”
The highest honor bestowed by the Florida Chamber, the Most Valuable Legislator Award, recognizes the legislator who championed pro-business issues and used his or her leadership in the Legislature to strengthen Florida’s economy and business climate, and help create quality jobs for Floridians. This award recognizes a leader with the strength and courage to stand up and fight for the free enterprise system and the business community on tough issues, no matter who the opposition is or what the consequence. Past recipients of the Florida Chamber’s Most Valuable Legislator include Rep. Don Brown, Rep. Stan Mayfield, Rep. Dennis Ross, Sen. Garrett Richter and Sen. John Thrasher.
