TALLAHASSEE, FL (February 16, 2012) – Governor Rick Scott today signed into law a Florida Chamber-backed bill that will strengthen Florida’s position as a leader in the space industry.
A long-held priority for the Florida Chamber, the spaceport facilities measure takes important steps toward providing flexibility to Space Florida and further strengthens the state’s aviation and aerospace industries.
“Florida’s space industry supplies thousands with high-skill, high-wage jobs,” said Ryan West, Director of Talent & Innovation Policy with the Florida Chamber of Commerce. “By signing this bill into law, we can help ensure Florida retains its leadership role in the space and aerospace industry and that we can generate employment opportunities for the brightest minds in Florida.”
The Florida Chamber thanks Sen. Lizbeth Benacquisto (R-Ft. Myers) and Rep. Ritch Workman (R-Melbourne) for sponsoring this legislation.
