FLORIDA CHAMBER ACTION ALERT: Urge Lawmakers to Fix Florida’s Broken Property Insurance System!

TAKE ACTION in support of fixing Florida’s broken property insurance system by 5:00 p.m. TODAY!

Florida is facing a ticking time bomb from hurricanes and the resulting hurricane taxes that will directly distribute costs to the Florida business community as well as Florida’s taxpayers and citizens.

Contact your Senator on the Senate Banking and Insurance Committee and urge them to vote YES on SB 1372 – a Florida Chamber-backed bill that makes important reforms to Florida’s Hurricane Catastrophe Fund (CAT Fund)!

Florida’s property insurance situation is critical – Reforming Citizens and the CAT Fund would help reduce “Hurricane Tax” assessments levied on Florida businesses! Reforms to Florida’s broken property insurance system will provide much needed predictability and stability to the property insurance industry that will help lower rates for all Floridians.

If Florida were hit by a major storm in this fiscal year, the CAT Fund could experience $3.2 BILLION in unfunded obligations – dollar figures so high that the CAT Fund has said it CANNOT borrow sufficient funds to meet these obligations.

Reform to the CAT Fund and Citizens is critical! Contact Senators on the Senate Banking and Insurance Committee and ask that they vote YES on SB 1372 by Sen. JD Alexander in support of reform to the CAT Fund!
