Florida Chamber of Commerce Endorses Bill McCollum in the Republican Primary for Florida Governor

The Florida Chamber of Commerce endorsed Attorney General BIll McCollum today in the Republican primary race for Governor of Florida.  The endorsement, made at the Tampa Port Authority following a brief site tour, signals the Florida Chamber's strong support of McCollum's plan for creating jobs and strengthening Florida's economy. Florida Hometown Democracy Caught Hiding the Ball on Financial Reports,
Complaint Reveals

The Florida Chamber of Commerce today filed a complaint with the Florida Elections Commission against Florida Hometown Democracy, Inc., the Political Action Committee (PAC) sponsoring Amendment 4, a proposal to alter Florida's constitution. (more)

Blanchard Joins Florida Chamber Foundation to Lead Research Efforts

The Florida Chamber Foundation announced today that it has expanded its research and public policy development efforts with the addition of Carrie Blanchard as director of research and public policy.  Blanchard is leaving the office of Mayor John Marks to join the think tank arm of the Florida Chamber of Commerce following her last city commission meeting this week. (more)

The Florida Chamber of Commerce has announced Steve Forbes as keynote speaker for its premier event and annual meeting, the 2010 Future of Florida Forum, which takes place at Walt Disney World’s Yacht & Beach Club in Orlando, October 11 - 13. Florida Chamber Political Institute Poll Shows Numbers in Republican Gubernatorial Primary Election Tightening

A poll released today by the Florida Chamber of Commerce Political Institute shows the lead narrowing in the Republican Primary race for governor. In a statewide sampling of likely voters, 35 percent of Floridians are still undecided. Additionally, Governor Crist continues to hold strong approval ratings, with 60 percent of Floridians approving and 30 percent disapproving. However, 53 percent of voters still believe Florida is on the wrong track, while 30 percent of voters believe we are generally headed in the right direction. (more)
   
 

Jacksonville Senator John Thrasher Named Florida Chamber's 2010 Most Valuable Legislator

Senator John Thrasher has been named the 2010 Most Valuable Legislator by the Florida Chamber of Commerce for his leadership on pro-business issues during this year’s Legislative Session.

Florida Chamber Release Pro-Jobs Ratings

Today, the Florida Chamber of Commerce released the 2010 Legislative Report Card, which grades legislators based on their support of pro-job and pro-business issues during the legislative session. These highly anticipated grades are
calculated annually based on legislators’ voting records on the issues outlined in the Florida Chamber’s 2010 Florida Business Agenda and are available for review at www.FloridaChamber.com/2010ReportCard.
 
“The Florida Chamber’s 2010 Legislative Report Card is an invaluable tool for every business owner and voter in the state,” said Florida Chamber President and CEO Mark Wilson. “Not only is it a one-stop source for employers and their employees to find out which legislators support the business community as a whole, the online Report Card also provides a break-down of how each individual legislator voted on specific issues in the Florida Business Agenda to earn his or her grade.”  (more)
   
 

Florida Chamber of Commerce Names David Hart as Executive Vice President Additional Staffing Changes Part of Realignment to Five-Year Strategic Plan

Today, Florida Chamber President and CEO Mark Wilson announced David Hart has been hired in a newly created position as executive vice president and will manage the Chamber’s extensive legislative and political operations. The Florida Chamber is further ramping up its advocacy efforts to realign its priorities to its new five-year strategic plan and to focus on the changing legislative and political landscape. In addition, Marian Johnson has been promoted to senior vice president of Political Operations and Adam Babington has been promoted to vice president of Governmental Affairs. Florida Chamber of Commerce Calls for Doubling of Florida Exports in Six Years

The Florida Chamber of Commerce announced today that it is pushing for Florida to double its exports in the next six years. The announcement came at International Days, a two-day policy and networking event that brought several panels of international business experts to Tallahassee this week. Floridians Support for Race to the Top is Strong

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Today, the Florida Chamber released a survey showing over two-thirds of Floridians have a favorable opinion of Race to the Top, a federal competitive grant program in which states compete for education funding.
