Florida’s environmental policies and regulations too often inhibit private sector job creation without enhancing protections for Florida’s unique environment.

Florida’s natural environment is one of our state’s most precious resources. For decades, our state has been at the forefront of adopting increasingly stringent environmental regulations to protect our air, water and native species. While this commitment to environmental protection has made Florida a model for the nation, it has resulted in an often confusing and redundant array of local, state, and federal regulations. Many employers find that the time, expense and frustration involved in navigating the various bureaucracies in Florida have negatively impacted our state’s business climate and caused surrounding states to be more attractive and welcoming to job growth. This situation is exacerbated by evidence that these added costs and regulations often add no appreciable benefit to the environment. (more)

The Florida Chamber supports a more efficient and effective state environmental policy, and will fight to eliminate unnecessary and duplicative regulations, streamline our permitting process, and limit excessive costs on employers.
